McKellar x Lie + Loft // Issue 1 Cover Poster
All net proceeds from this 9 x 12 poster will be directed to Live Like John, a non-profit devoted to combatting pediatric brain tumors.
Almost immediately after launching McKellar #1, we began to receive messages from readers inquiring about our cover art. This image, by artist, musician and golf course shaper Quinn Thompson, of a foursome heading out into the unknown seems to have really resonated with people. A few even went so far as to say that if we ever turned it into a poster, they’d put it up on their wall. Well…ask and you shall receive!
There’s more to the story, though. A year into this project, we feel incredibly thankful that you, our readers, have supported our mission of bringing great golf journalism into your living room. In turn, we’ve been waiting for the right moment to use McKellar to do a little bit of good in the wider world.
With the sales of this poster, all net proceeds will be donated to the John McNicholas Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation, which can also be found across your various social media channels as “Live Like John.” Based in Quinn’s hometown of Chicago, the JMPBTF is a registered 501-c-3 non-profit organization. Here’s a little more info:
The John McNicholas Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation:
The John McNicholas Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation (JMPBTF) differs from many other foundations in two important respects. First, 100% of the money you commit goes into furthering our mission. Second, our mission is forward-focused, in support of pediatric brain cancer research that is so desperately needed today. At this time, brain cancer research is grossly under-funded–the public remains unaware of the magnitude of this disease.
John McNicholas lost his battle but his journey revealed there’s a war to be won. This is not just a story about one child. Tomorrow, ten parents will get the news that their son or daughter has been diagnosed with a brain tumor. The way John lived his life to the fullest and faced his illness with courage and grace has inspired many to “Live Like John.” In the spirit of John, this foundation has been created.
With your support, the JMPBTF resources will allow for better coordination of information and the specific targeting of research money for pediatric brain tumors; we can and will get the money into the hands of the right people to maximize our chances for finding a cure and to minimize the amount of time that will take.
Over time, and with your help, we hope to deliver much more: a cure.
